Let’s face it friends, we’re sort of still tourists when it comes to this whole Colorado thing. 😉 The winter weather has been pretty mild lately so we spent a day at City Park! It’s pretty crazy how Colorado manages to be beautiful even when all of the plants are dead and not currently covered in pretty white snow.
One thing that I’m totally loving about Colorado is all of the parks. They totally know how to maximize on the outdoor beauty here. Also, ALL THE PLAYGROUNDS is some kind of heaven for the kiddos and I. I’m pretty sure that we could play at a different playground each time we seek to find one.
And there is always a field or a lake or some other fantastic landscape to accompany them. Not to mention the backdrop is always a breathtaking view of the Rockies. Did I mention that I love mountains?
There aren’t many other places that I have been to that you can set out with your 3 kids and no particular destination in mind and still end up somewhere beautiful and moody-6-year-old approved. Seriously, what is it with 6 year olds? Is it just me or are they like mini teenagers?
We just stap on our littlest babe and go. I love exploring this city. It has yet to disappoint.
Anyways, on this particular day, we found ourself at City Park. It is sort of the “Central Park” of Denver and is the largest park here. It contains the Denver Zoo and the Museum of Nature and Science. There is a really cool boat house too.
There’s a giant wooden playground for the kids and what I assume will be beautiful gardens come Spring.
Although, somedays I think it’s basically already Spring. These Denver winters are totally bearable – at least so far. The snow is pretty when it comes and it’s gone pretty quickly. It’s been in the 50s during the daytime for a couple weeks now!
I keep waiting for the bitter cold that I remember from my childhood in the Chicago suburbs. But winter seems to be a bit milder here. Dressing for this weather is definitely more pleasant. ;P
Pretty sweaters (particularly this one from American Eagle) are pretty much my life these days. This one is a fav because it’s material is actually pretty warm and its length keeps my butt warm when it’s windy. haha! It also doubles as an awesome breastfeeding cover. Works just like a blanket would to keep us warm! #score
The Colorado dryness has me buying ALL THE LOTION AND CHAPSTICK but my hairstyles don’t miss Florida’s humidity one tiny bit! Frizz free forever here. But that static…that’s another story. haha.
Also. All the booties in this weather. If you’ve been around here for anytime, you know of my love for booties. Scored these babies on mega sale at Target. (You’re shocked, I know.)
Josh said the other day that he has worn more long sleeves in our few months here than he has in the rest of his life combined. (He was born in Florida.) haha. Although honestly, he loves it here even more than I do. There’s a part of me that will always long for the ocean. It’s still so weird to not be able to pick up and head to the beach on a daily basis.
But I can just pick up and head to the mountains. And I’m learning to really love that too. 🙂
