36 Week Bumpdate | Gender Wive’s Tales

October 19, 2016

Well, we are getting down to the bitter end here, and I figured it was time for a little bumpdate. As you know, we are expecting Baby 3 very soon…as in… the next few weeks. We decided to keep our third and final babe’s gender a surprise. Well, I decided. Josh just wants to open up the gender revealing ultrasound and be done with it. haha! In his defense, it would have made planning a lot easier. ESPECIALLY during the move. But we’ve waited this long and I’m not giving in now!

36 Week Bumpdate!

There are a lot of of old wive’s tales that supposedly reveal the gender of your baby. So I thought it would be fun to go through and guess what Baby 3 will be! I was dead set on boy for most of my pregnancy, but I’m not so sure anymore.

  1. Heartbeat
The tale is that a heart beat over 140 bpm is a girl, while slower than 140 bpm is a boy.
    Verdict: Boy.
  2. Cravings
They say if you crave sweet it’s a girl and if you crave savory it’s a boy.
    Verdict: Girl. All the cereal.
  3. Morning Sickness
Apparently, lots of morning sickness implies a girl, little to none means you’re having a boy.
Verdict: Girl x 100. I was SO sick this pregnancy.
  4. Leg Swelling
If your legs swell a lot it’s a boy, if they don’t swell it’s a girl. Oddly enough, this was completely true for my first two pregnancies. Jace I was basically a giant bag of water. Zoey, I didn’t swell a bit. This time I’m somewhere in the middle so I’m not entirely sure what to make of this one?
    Verdict: inconclusive.
  5. Clumsy
If you maintain your grace while pregnant, it’s a girl. If you are clumsy while pregnant, it’s a boy. I have been obnoxiously clumsy through out all of my pregnancies. haha. I complain about it a lot.
    Verdict: Boy.
  6. Baby Names
Apparently, when you can think predominantly of only one gender’s name, you have that gender of baby. Thank god for that…because I only have a boy name picked out and I don’t know WHAT we’ll do if we have a girl! haha!
    Verdict: Boy.
  7. How You’re Carrying
All of your baby bump out front is a boy while carrying horizontally is girl.
Verdict: I’d say boy, for the most part I haven’t changed from behind. haha
  8. Chinese Gender Test
This test uses your birthdate and due date to determine the baby’s sex. Kinda cool. Although according to this test, Zoey should have been a boy. 😉
    Verdict: Girl

Boy: 4    Girl: 3    Inconclusive: 1

36 Week Bumpdate!

Well, that settles it then. We still have no idea what we’re having. hahaha. I’ve always wondered where these lovely tales come from? My belly button is nearly inside out (as seen above) that has never happened to me before! lol

This babe should be here before Thanksgiving, which seems both REALLY soon and SUPER far away. sigh. I have officially reached the point of constant discomfort and annoyance. I’ve not had hip pain like this (yes, I know you already know. No, I’m not done complaining about it) in my life and I am ready to be over it. I’m also at a point where no hoodies fit me. My husband’s largest sweatshirt strains to fit around my belly and it’s getting a little too cold to go hoody-less at night. I’ve spent the last 13 years of my life in Florida…I need a hoody!

36 Week Bumpdate!

36 Week Bumpdate!

Other than the hip pain though everything is pretty mild. I am a planet, as per my usual pregnant physique. I also am requiring some naps. Being this huge us exhausting. I’m brainstorming some Halloween costume ideas (I know you all have seen those pregnancy costumes on Facebook) since it’s not too miserable hot here on Halloween like it always was in Florida.

The giant belly is making unpacking quite difficult, since I can’t very well carry things with it in my way. Not to mention climbing the flights of stairs in my new house is LOADS of fun with so much hip pain and extra weight. hahaha.

I’m thinking about doing a semi-moved in home tour soon. These lovely photos were taken in the beautiful autumn-ness of my own backyard!! We don’t even have enough furniture to fill a house this size (it feels huge compared to the old one,) but people keep asking to see the place! Is that something you guys would like to see?!

OMG that’s so exciting! I haven’t heard of a lot of these before either so that’s fun…I’m not even pregnant but the only names we can think of in our fun lil’ brainstorming sessions are girl names, so maybe that’s a sign!?!? Can’t wait to meet your little one!

Haha! Maybe it is a sign, who knows! But in the past, any names that I had selected before my pregnancies suddenly didn’t “feel right” anymore. My husband STILL teases me about it.

Awww, you look beautiful momma! I’m so sorry to hear about all the morning sickness however. Best of luck–you’re almost there!! I never heard of the clumsy one, I feel like that would be very inconclusive for me since I can barely walk a straight line on a good day :p

I’ve never done any of those gender prediction myths. I always find out what we’re having because I’d go crazy not knowing. 🙂 But it would be fun to see if they’re accurate. 🙂
