Hey guys!
I’m back with more Goodwill Gold. I’ve decided that SWFL is a decent place for Goodwill-age. Retired people love to give their stuff away! Haha! The resale shops (you like that? Now Goodwill sounds fancy. 😉 ) in my area tend to have cool stuff from time to time.
I’m also majorly color crushing on sage right now. Ugh! One of the many bathing suits I purchased this summer was also sage. I can’t get enough.
This guy started our like this
You see him back there? Behind the DIY Dress Up Center? That typical ugly brown laminate color.
Of course I took to Pinterest to find the best way to paint over laminate without sanding, because let’s face it, sanding is awful and no one wants to do that! I found an abundance of tutorials on how to do it. They all led me to…
Primer.
So I did. I primed every inch of that thing. I even bought some mixture that some of the tutorials said to mix in with the primer.
Then, I waited a day and painted.
Then, I made my husband help me to carry it all in the house… and I went to put the little inner shelves back in. And….
All of my hard work wiped right off. Like, a light breeze could have removed all of the paint from the entire project. -_- yay.
Pinterest had failed me! haha. Seriously though, I felt betrayed.
So I had to repaint all of the areas that had scraped right off. And then I was left to decide what to do, because obviously what I had done was basically worthless.
But fret not, dear readers! I sought help with the hero of all DIYers, the tried and true of the crafting world…
Mod Podge.
Yes. I covered this entire thing in Matte Modge Podge. And guess what?
It worked.
Now nothing can scathe its sage gloriousness. Not my kids NOR my 100 lb dog.
I had a left over paint sample that I used on the cabinet door. It just seemed like it needed something to break up all the green. haha. And I still think that I’m going to change the old school hardware.
I decorated it with my favorite little boho style candle holders.
TJ Maxx | Bath and Body Works
I crazy couponed at Bath and Body Works and got the cute little gold one for free. 🙂 #winning
And yes, I know I still need a candle for the tall one. Don’t judge me!
Oh, and this is my daughter getting all up in my biz-nass and stuffing a flip flop into one of my flats while wearing a head band around her neck??
I promise she has real toys.
But yeah, there you have it. Cheap little Goodwill Gold TV Stand. Thumbs up. 🙂
Make anything good lately?
Where did you buy the Mod Podge at Amanda?
You can get Mod Podge almost anywhere Lynn! Craft stores, Target… you name it! (Not Publix though. 😉 )
Oh OK, thanks Amanda!, Don’t know why it posted me as Lynnie???? Crazy computers!

Not yet. I’m just working on making my home a home at the moment. I love that though and I’ve never though of mod podge although a lot of my friends swear by chalk paint because you can just paint it on anything. I’ve been thinking about it for a while.
Chalk paint huh?! I haven’t tried that, this was regular paint. I looked at chalk paint at Lowes and it is kind of expensive! That’s why I ended up just buying a semi matte paint instead. Maybe that would have made all the difference?
A lot of the ladies in my group make their own chalk paint or go the cheaper route and buy it at Walmart. Then they lock it with poly to prevent it from getting nicks and scratches just like the Mod Podge. I’m learning so much! I play to chalk paint my chest of drawers and a dresser to match a headboard I want to purchase. Give it a distressed look.

Looks gorgeous! But definitely just save yourself some time/sanity and buy an electric sander in the future! It has saved me so much heartache.

Wow. You did an awesome job! It looks fantastic! I also love all the candle holders. And your daughter is precious. Love that face! 🙂
Thank you! She’s a little sassy, but I love it.

Such an improvement! I love projects like that where you can slap some paint (and primer 🙂 ) on and voila! New life for something!

You’re right. Totally the best.
it looks great! Zinsser oil based primer works great on laminate furniture. This was a good post and you only get better with every painting project. Great JOB!
That’s what I used! Idk what kinda crazy laminate this was but…nothing worked but the Mod. haha!

That turned out really cool! Good thinking with the modgepodge fix! Sometimes DIYs don’t turn out quite right the first time.

This is so cute! I’m very impressed that you were able to get it to look so good. I was questioning it at the beginning. 🙂 I think the white detail really seals the deal!

And Possibly Dinosaurs
haha! I momentarily doubted things myself…

OBSESSED with sage lately. I cant get enough. And yes, ALWAYS Mod Podge! Should have known! lol
No, in fact I was inspired last weekend to go out and ‘thrift’ but I didn’t find ANYTHING worth anything. Bummer. My inspiration is renewed though and I’m hoping to find a treasure this weekend. Fingers crossed. And my kids have real toys too…but I’m pretty sure they would see brilliance in shoving a flip flop into another shoe. Glad you were able to salvage all your work with some mod podge—go figure!
Right? I should have known… Mod Podge is always the answer.

Oh my gosh! This is fabulous! I also love that sage/mint color and am so impressed with your crafty-ness.
haha, thank you! I don’t get to exercise the “crafty-ness” near as much as I wish! But the sage paint was calling to me.
