Well, I survived my first official day in court as a Guardian ad Litem. It sounds way more official than it was. Basically, I got to wear an adorable outfit and sit at the table with the attorneys. Still cool though…
To my husbands dismay, I didn’t correct anybody that referred to me as Miss Rinehart (instead of Mrs.) because I am so much younger than the rest of them and they all assume I’m not married. lol. Honestly, they could have called me by the wrong name entirely and I wouldn’t have corrected them. I don’t have much experience yet…but correcting a judge sounds like a bad idea, call it a hunch.
This dress and this shirt are both old. I don’t know why in God’s green earth I hadn’t thought to wear them together until now. Totally nailed that summery yet professional thing, if you ask me. 😉 I have a matching short sleeve blazer… but dang, it’s HOT.
Shoes, also way old. They have little blue flowers on them, but you can’t tell. But they do, I promise, and I promise that they’re adorable.
And like… how gorgeous is Punta Gorda? I had kind of forgotten the historic charm it has. Talk about court house location score. 😉
I guess I’m glad that my outfit was able to help take away from the heaviness that I always feel while sitting in on dependancy court cases. Being a Momma Bear is a driving factor for me, in relation to foster child advocacy, but it can also be a double edged sword as children have become my biggest weakness. Sometimes I find myself sitting there wondering how so much of this goes on in my own community, and no body even knows it.
Just one of those things that makes you hug them a little tighter.
How about you? Do you use cute clothes as a pick-me-up? I know I do.
